

























Highlights of 2008 for Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF campaign
National:
Students from Ottawa’s Elmwood School and Gatineau’s l’École Vieux Verger, along with their teachers and parents, participate in a Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF celebration at the Canadian Children’s Museum in Gatineau. Here the students are taking part in a symbolic Walk for Water with National UNICEF Child Representative Bilaal Rajan and UNICEF Québec Ambassador Catherine Brunet. Ontario:
UNICEF Canada Ambassador and Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF National Spokesperson Ben Mulroney launches the Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF campaign at George Webster Public School in Toronto. Students at George Webster Public school check out the Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF collection envelopes they’ve just received from UNICEF Canada Ambassadors Ben Mulroney and Bilaal Rajan.
Prairies:
The Grade 4 class at Winnipeg’s École Robert Browning deliver a moving “Word Ballet” performance celebrating how Canadian children can help their African peers every year through UNICEF. Students from Lord Roberts School in Winnipeg participate in a symbolic Walk for Water to raise funds and awareness for Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF and the Schools for Africa programme. Students from Chinook Park School in Calgary participate in a symbolic Walk for Water with their teachers and parents. Sparky the Fire Dog from the Calgary Fire Department also joined the walkers in support of Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF. Students and teachers from Grandin School in Edmonton participate in a symbolic Walk for Water to celebrate the launch of the Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF campaign at their school. On October 31, National UNICEF Day, students from Université du Québec en Outaouais and Collège Pré-Universitaire Nouvelles Frontières participated in awareness and fundraising activities in support of the Schools for Africa programme. The students wore costumes for the occasion and posed for the camera in exchange for a donation in a very festive atmosphere! Students from Académie Juillet in Candiac participated in Read for UNICEF and are joined here with UNICEF Québec Ambassador Catherine Brunet. The students supported the Schools for Africa programme by finding sponsors for every minute they read throughout the month of October. In order to help children in Rwanda and Malawi have clean water and attend school, the students at Cougar Canyon Elementary School in North Delta, BC take a giant first step. The students carry jugs of water through the community to understand what it might be like for children their age in Africa who have to travel much farther to get their daily water. Teacher Mary Chow-Bonneville and one of her students from Sir Charles Kingsford-Smith Elementary School in Vancouver dress up as superheroes in support of Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF.Québec:
